Water
Whilst we use relatively little water, we are conscious of the need to conserve this resource, particularly in water stressed areas such as the South East of England, and continue to search for additional methods for improving efficiencies in this area. Our water use in 2008 is summarised in the tables below. The reduction in consumption in 2008 is principally due to the vacation of The Strand Estate, pending redevelopment.The principal use of water in our buildings is in public facilities over which we have limited control. We continue to explore opportunities to reduce water usage through adopting best practice in the design of new centres. Where appropriate, we will also retrofit water saving devices into existing buildings during refurbishment or re-modelling.
