Stakeholders

Covent Garden London

The Covent Garden London (CGL) team have had a busy year! In addition to work in connection with the Covent Garden Masterplan and engagement with a wide variety of local stakeholders a number of specific CR initiatives have been undertaken. CGL hosted the ‘SayYes’ Challenge with St Joseph’s Primary School [link to Stakeholders Case study 2008 Say Yes Covent Garden] and ran or supported a large number of other community/environmental projects. Amongst the highlights were:

National Enterprise Week The Inter Primary School Enterprise challenge. This is an event which was held last year. The challenge involved 11 Merton Schools and approximately 450 children. The children had to come up with an idea for a market stall and present their ideas, to a panel of judges. The finalists spent 40 minutes with a market trader before making their presentations to the judges who represented CGL and the local market trader community. Prizes were awarded to the winners and all the runners-up.

Bow School Social Enterprise The children of Bow School were asked to design an image, logo or picture to be printed on canvas bags as part of a going green initiative. The winning team’s logo was printed on the bag and sold to the general public with all profits going to the Bromley by Bow Centre’. This is a centre that serves the community to promote social community cohesion, improving the well-being of the community by providing high quality services. CGL donated use of a market stall for the day free of charge.

Crisis at Christmas CGL chose Homeless charity, Crisis, as the charity partner for Christmas 2008. With our support, Crisis raised £12,000 over the period.

Covent Garden photography exhibition CGL hosted this exhibition in 10,000 sq. ft. of event space free of charge in June 2008. The exhibition was a display of fascinating photographs of the area taken during its fruit and vegetable market days and was free to enter.
