Go Green Events
All 10 CSC directly managed shopping centres took turns to host interactive exhibitions promoting greater environmental awareness and responsibility to shoppers visiting its centres under the banner of ‘Go Green’ throughout late spring and summer 2008. This built upon the success of the initial ‘Go Green’ event held at the MetroCentre in September 2007.
CSC worked this year in partnership with both the Energy Savings Trust and the Environment Agency during the ‘Go Green’ events across all 10 centres.
The events focused primarily on a set of informative exhibition stands that were displayed in the main event areas in each centre. Generic messages were incorporated onto each board to enable them to be rotated across each centre and only requiring the individual centre logos attached to each board to be updated.
The exhibition stands detailed key environmental messages, developed in consultation with both the Energy Savings Trust and the Environment Agency, which provided practical advice to shoppers about key ‘green related’ issues, including transport, conservation, recycling and water usage. They both attended all events, manning the exhibition stands, providing guidance to shoppers and to distributing a range of free energy saving household products. Each centre invited appropriate local parties to participate within these events to increase the impact on visitors to each centre by offering exhibitors promotional space surrounding the main exhibition areas.
Each centre also worked in partnership with a range of other third parties, including environmental teams connected to local authorities and a variety of local companies the opportunity to showcase their products and new green initiatives.
