Retail Gold
The Retail Gold initiative goes from strength to strength. Working with the Newcastle Education Business Partnership, Eldon Square and MetroCentre provide opportunities for students studying for the BTech in Retailing to be paired with retailers to gain practical experience of all aspects of retailing as part of the syllabus. Retail Gold is in its third year at Eldon Square, Newcastle, in its first year at MetroCentre, Gateshead and been launched for students studying in the Oxfordshire area by our Westgate Shopping Centre, in Oxford, in partnership with the Oxfordshire Education Business Partnership.The new Westgate project is being marketed as being for the benefit of retailing for the whole of Oxford, rather then specifically for Westgate alone. Although the Oxford Retail Gold programme is relatively new, starting in autumn 2008, Westgate has already won public recognition for the initiative. The Centre Manager has accepted a certificate, on behalf of the centre team, as the Westgate Retail Gold programme was successfully nominated as one of the ‘Best Newcomers’ in the Oxfordshire Investors in Education Awards 2009.
